Hugh Hefner Unloads One

Back in mid-March of 2009 Your Mama discussed the Holmby Hills estate that Hugh Hefner and his sorta-wife/baby momma Kimberly put on the market with a spine tingling real estate bubble asking price of $27,995,000.

The children will recall that the 7 bedroom and 5 pooper manse measures 7,318 square feet and for better or worse sits right up next door to the (in)famous Playboy Mansion where the still frisky thanks to modern medicine octogenarian soft-porn purveyor lives with three gurlfriends–including a set of teenage twins–young enough to be his great-grandchildren. The house in question was occupied by Missus Hefner and the two butter beans she had with her philandering huzband Hef.

Next we heard about the property was just a few days ago when Mister Big Time revealed that the property was in escrow. Well chickens, thanks to our good friend Babbling Babette we've learned that the property has indeed been sold. We haven't been able to suss out the identity of the buyer but we can tell you that the estate sold for, are you ready? Drum roll please...Eighteen million clams. That's right puppies some buyer had the nerve to offer $18,000,000 and Mister and Missus Hefner had the brains to take the money and run, run, run.

Now that this deed is done, Your Mama waits on pins and needles to see if ol' Hef up and sells his other house on S. Mapleton Drive, not the Playboy Mansion which is actually on Charing Cross Road, but the one up the road a bit from the wifey's old house where we hear he puts up all the wanna be nekked boobie-models that flock to the Playboy Mansion like moths to a flame.

The Playboy mansion is ran like a hotel. Hef has to pay to stay there and they have a computerized hospitality system that charges him for all expenditures. Read a recent annual report for Playboy to see how it all works out. The production company for Girls Next Door used to be billed for the girls expenses.

Kendra has said that their relationship was weird and there was never sex. The staff at the mansion used to keep a notebook with the comings and goings of the girls and Hef would analyze it and ask questions of the staff.

Hef sells an image. The mansion is actually quite a boring place to be...except when its rented out for parties.

I am not too surprised this house fetched $18M if for only it resembles the actual Playboy mansion.

The two-story, 7,300 square foot home was built in 1929 for the sister of Arthur Letts Jr., the original owner of the Playboy mansion.

I'm glad the house sold for a price that was satisfactory for Hugh and Kim Hefner.

Hopefully, Kim pockets the money, buys herself a luxe condo somewhere on the Westside and stashes the rest of the money in several banks. Who knows what Hugh has got and who is going to get it when he goes to the mansion in the sky.

I am a fan of Hugh Hefner. He and his magazine got millions of teenage boys, myself included, through puberty with a lot of good visuals and a few interesting articles ;)

While he is, of course, not everyone's cup of tea I think that Hugh is, basically, a decent person who has done right by his children and the women who have played important roles in his life.

Yes, he peddles smut...yes, he has likely done his share of shady things...yes, he has promoted silicone to the ends of the earth...but overall I feel that Hugh Hefner is a good dude who has interesting taste in real estate.

No way! Is that a Lawn Goose near the motor court?

530 (the next hous to the right of this one that sold) is now on the market for 17m as a tear down. Doesn't the "bunny hutch" house also belong to the corporation?

Mama, your ability to track down and obtain accurate real estate facts like no one else can always amazes me. It's the cherry on top of your deliciously addictive writing style.

Mr. Hefner's 2 acres in Holmby Hills on S Mapleton Dr fetched $18 million in a still declining market, and he's one shrewd businessman. I actually think he made out quite well, all things considered. Reality check time for Candy Spelling's $150 million asking price *cough* among other exorbitantly priced estates in the Holmby Hills area, and those in Bel Air such as Fleur De Lys, Le Belvédère, La Belle Vie, etc.

And then there's the glut of Beverly Park properties going nowhere to consider. I wonder if Heidi Klum and Seal's $14,000,000 offer on Norm Zada's modern mansion was accepted.

I believe the so-called "Bunny Hutch" is at 565, but I am not 100%. It is in the name of "Landmark Worldwide Empire" and was purchased in June of 1971. I believe the Playboy mansion was purchased in February of 1971, so that seems too close to not be connected in some way.

The bunny hutch is 333 S. Mapleton.

No double entendre whatsoever in the title. None.

Mama wouldn't do that.

I never thought Playboy would go downhill so fast. If Total Recall ever becomes reality, I want to be one of Hef's mid-70s roomies. Maybe Jimmy Caan.

I would like to know 2 things. 1) Did Kim get any proceeds from the sale? I assumed the company owned the house, don't forget; they are still legally married. And 2) Has she found a new place to live?

Hey Mama, keep up the good work! I love reading your blog!

I think these gold diggers that have been hold up at the mansion the last 5 or 6 years watching movies in Hef's bed are costing him a pretty penny.

Mama check some of your contacts ,I heard from a somewhat credible source. That the buyer is "possibly" Richard Branson.
